Pro Bono Coordinator

The Pro Bono Coordinator will be part of the management team responsible for the involvement of the private bar in the delivery of legal services in the NPLS service area. Private attorney involvement (PAI) involves both pro bono and judicare. The Pro Bono Coordinator will support a comprehensive, unified approach to pro bono and judicare case referrals and will expand North Penn’s  capacity to meet the pressing needs of low-income people in its service area. This is a full-time position and will require significant engagement with the private bar in all parts of the service area.

  • Develop strategies to expand pro bono and judicare participation in the NPLS service area.
  • Build and maintain connections with the private bar in all counties.
  • Organize training for private bar members.
  • Provide oversight to local office staff for maintenance of consistent case referral, management, and reporting practices for PAI cases.
  • Serve as resource to pro bono and judicare attorneys as necessary for case handling.
  • Maintain a limited caseload in a defined substantive area.
  • Participate in statewide pro bono events and training.
  • Work location is in one of the NPLS offices.
  • PA Bar or by admission. 
  • Desire applicants with five+ years in practice. Salary DOE, starting at approx. $60,000. Competitive fringe benefits including generous paid leave, health insurance and 401(k) plan. Employer bears most of the expense for benefits.

  • This is a public interest position that may qualify for loan repayment assistance through the Legal Services Corporation, PA IOLTA, law schools as well as PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness).
