The 2025 National Celebration of Pro Bono is October 19-25.
The American Bar Association’s National Celebration of Pro Bono started during the Great Recession in 2009. The need for pro bono work was at an all-time high due to the difficult economic conditions, and attorneys around the country answered the call. The commitment of the legal profession to provide “pro bono publico” (for the public good) has been a longstanding tradition.
The importance of pro bono did not disappear after 2009, and every year, the National Celebration of Pro Bono highlights the need for pro bono work and thanks those who volunteer their time.
NPLS thanks our pro bono volunteers representing clients in civil legal cases and the many other ways they help low income people in northeastern Pennsylvania.
NPLS pro bono volunteers not only represent clients, but also mentor newer staff, help with NPLS fundraisers, present trainings and CLEs, sign up for emeritus status to assist with casework, and serve on our volunteer board.
With gratitude, we offer a free CLE on updated custody rules on Tuesday October 22, 2025 to volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer at NPLS, you are encouraged to sign up through our website.
