Find Civil Legal Aid

NPLS Provides free civil legal services to low income families in Northeast Pennsylvania. We determine your eligibility based on:

  • the specifics of your case or legal needs,
  • your household income, and
  • where you live (not all services are available in all counties).

Call 877-953-4250 to apply by phone.  Telephone applications are accepted Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. (no Friday intake). 

You can also apply online anytime. We ask you to understand that response times may be delayed.

FRAUD ALERT: NPLS services are free; we do not charge any fees or expenses to our clients. If you are contacted by email, mail or phone by anyone claiming to be from NPLS asking for a “retainer fee” or any other fee or bill, please ignore it and let us know.

  • Eligibility Requirements

    NPLS offers representation to low income families who need legal help.

    In order to qualify for free legal services, your household income must meet requirements based on Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. See our "Do I Qualify" page for more info.

  • Accepted Case Types

    NPLS can only assist with civil legal matters and does not handle criminal, personal injury, or traffic court matters.

    Unfortunately, we cannot accept every case.

    In order for your case to be reviewed, you must go through our intake process. You are not a client until the local office has accepted your case following the intake process.

    We are not responsible if your application is not received due to server or Internet problems. We are not responsible if you miss a deadline while you are waiting for us to determine eligibility.
