About North Penn Legal Services
North Penn Legal Services (NPLS) is the regional civil legal services provider in Northeast Pennsylvania. We are a Pennsylvania non-profit dedicated to providing professional legal representation, advocacy, and community legal education to low-income individuals and families.
At NPLS, we are passionate about justice. Our staff work on cases related to housing, public benefits, employment, family law, and other areas of public interest law. With offices across nine locations serving twenty counties, we provide a collaborative, supportive environment where you can grow as a professional and make a real difference in the lives of clients.

Many of our interns have gone on to join NPLS as staff attorneys, continuing the work they started during their internship.
What You Will Do
As a Legal Intern, you will:
- Work directly with clients, providing legal advice and representation where appropriate
- Research, draft, and review legal documents, court filings, and related materials
- Participate in state and federal court proceedings and administrative hearings
- Support outreach to underserved communities, including those who are homebound or unaware of available legal services
- Join community activities related to client needs
- Attend team meetings and collaborate with attorneys and staff across the organization
- Maintain organized files, track your time, and help ensure smooth office operations
What We Are Looking For
- Current enrollment at an accredited law school
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience using LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar tools
- Analytical thinking and ability to apply legal principles
- Commitment to serving low-income and diverse communities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, proactive, and adaptable
- Comfort using modern office technology, including email, databases, and Microsoft Office
Compensation & Schedule
- $28.58 per hour
- 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Flexible location options (Bethlehem, Williamsport, Towanda, or Pittston, PA)
- On-site presence preferred
