Tech Assistant (Part-Time, 60% or 80%) – Legal Aid Office, Pittston, PA
This position is responsible for the first level support of technical service requests from staff and provides support to the Systems Administrator.
Background
North Penn Legal Services (NPLS) is the regional civil legal services provider in Northeast Pennsylvania. We are a Pennsylvania non-profit organization with a mission to provide professional legal representation, advocacy, and community legal education to low-income individuals and families.
We seek staff who are committed to civil legal justice issues and helping clients resolve cases related to housing, public benefits, employment issues, family law, and other areas of public interest law. NPLS maintains staff in nine offices across twenty counties, and outreach to all counties.

The Pittston office represents clients primarily in Luzerne County, and may assist in Lackawanna, Sullivan, and Wyoming counties.
The hourly rate for this position is $20, depending on experience. NPLS offers a benefits package that includes employer-paid health and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, generous paid leave and holidays, and the option to elect cash in lieu of some benefits (if eligible). Position Responsibilities
- Provide remote technical support for administration and staff
- Troubleshoot software application
- Troubleshoot PC’s, printers, scanners, projectors and peripheral devices
- Set up new user id/password logins, and reset passwords when necessary
- Troubleshoot 3rd party software and applications
- Escalate service requests that require help from the Systems Administrator or Outside Provider
- Research computers and computer supplies
- Other tasks related to tech as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot issues in Windows 7/10/Server 2012 R2/2016/2019, Microsoft Office 2013/2016/365, Remote Desktop
- Prior experience as a Help Desk Technician or Tech Support.
- Knowledge of SharePoint
- Must have a strong understanding of Network Technologies
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to stay calm in difficult situations
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- Must be professional
- Must be able to work independently and without supervision
- Ability to alter schedule during large project rollouts.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in information technology.
