Free Hybrid CLE Training - Mortgage Choices & Financial Safety: Preventing Exploitation of Older Homeowners
Join North Penn Legal Services and PA LINK this Fair Housing Month for a timely discussion on housing issues that impact older adults. We will discuss the potential benefits and pitfalls of reverse mortgages, how to avoid property tax sales, and how to avoid equity theft scams. Due to rising repair costs and increased taxes based on rising property values, older homeowners in Pennsylvania who live on a fixed income may find it financially difficult to maintain their homes. They are often targets of scams that claim to help but instead result in the theft of home equity that was earned over many years of hard work and investment. We will address how to distinguish solutions from scams and provide resources to help older homeowners age in place, if that is their goal.
There will be a continental breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the program beginning promptly at 10 a.m. The program will be 1.5 hours long and will allow time for questions. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, and members of the bar will have an opportunity to earn 1.5 hours of CLE credit.
